Last week I was at Data Grillen, a conference that embodies the word ‘community’ like none other. I was there to do a session on personal branding, and unexpectedly ended up reading a poem I wrote to close out the conference.

Most marketing - especially B2B marketing - sounds like this:

Let’s be real, ‘personal branding’ kiiinda sounds like something a wanky FinTech founder would come up with, a new buzzword to make ‘posting on LinkedIn’ sound snazzier, and gatekeep it in the process.

One thing you should know about me: I love new years. I love the feeling of starting afresh, growing and setting new intentions and goals. I was that kid who liked the new school year purely to buy a bunch of new stationary.

I’m on a packed train, typing in my notes app. My notes app is full of lists, half-baked ideas, and half-written poems, but maybe that’s a blog for another day.
